From Blair to Blair and Beyond

Democracy and Photography in the Age of Big Brother

At 11Am, on the date of his birthday, June 25, you are invited to join the directors of the Surveillance Mirror project (http://www.flickr.com/groups/surveillancemirror/) in a visit to the Oxfordshire grave of Eric Blair, whose alter ego, George Orwell, was immortalised as the author of 1984. This will be followed by a discussion at a pub nearby of Orwell's predictions of a surveillance society where liberty is constrained by a politics of fear and perpetual wars overseas.

Please join us and a group of photographers, commentators, and Orwell experts for a democratic debate about public space, surveillance, and the place of photographers at the end of the Blair age of Big Brother. The event will be recorded for podcast.
